UQSR provides ISO 17100 certification services in Bangalore. ISO 17100 certification body in Bangalore.
International Standards are recognized in an incredibly broad range of industries. They seek to establish a set of requirements, specifications, guidelines, or characteristics that will be consistently applied to the product or service that you are procuring from an organization. The purpose is to help improve confidence that what you are paying for will be fit for purpose.ISO 17100, the set of global standards designed for the translation industry, has raised the bar for translation service providers (TSPs). When customers select a TSP that is 17100-certified, they know precisely what to expect from that company.Introduced in May 2015, the development of 17100 was a significant milestone for the global translation business; it was the first time that international standards were developed for translation services. The ISO 17100 is based on the European EN 15038, and expands on it to include detailed provisions regarding employee qualifications, client parameters and feedback, and data protection, among others.Stringent Requirements Mean Stronger OutputGeared toward ensuring TSPs are providing their best work to clients, the parameters set by 17100 make certain that customers are receiving top-quality translations. To become 17100-certified, TSPs are obligated to consistently meet stringent requirements, including:Personnel mandates, which state that translators, proof-readers, and revisers are required to provide documentation that verifies their professional and educational qualifications. In addition, translators are obligated to have more than five years of fulltime experience in the field, as well as a government-issued certificate of competence in specific areas, including research, linguistic, textual, cultural, domain, and technical competencies.A data protection system to ensure that all information remains confidential.A mechanism to measure feedback from clients, such as customer satisfaction surveys. In addition, the standards consist of parameters for each step of the translation process, including:The initial translation, which requires translators to verify their own workA compulsory revision step by another person, other than the first translatorAn optional review step to evaluate the translation project to ensure it meets its purposeAn optional pre-publication check of the projectFinal verification of the project against outlined specificationsConsiderable Benefits for ClientsThe benefits of ISO 17100 are significant; clients of TSPs that are not 17100-certified are missing out on an opportunity to work with a company that is committed to high standards. By achieving certification, a business is making a statement that standards matter, and it is holding itself accountable to its customers. The primary benefits to clients include:Top-notch quality assurance, with the minimum requirements set for translators, editors, and project managersMore confidence in the translation output, since the transition and revision phases are each overseen by different translatorsAgreed upon expectations that delineate the standard procedures of how the project will be managedConfidentiality assurance as a result of the mandatory data protection requirementPrecise translations due to the rigorous guidelinesRetrievable files, with all work being fully traceable

It is a quality management system that demonstrates its ability to consistently provide a product or a service that matches the applicable statutory and regulatory standards. It would have a thorough process to enhance a customer's satisfaction with the help of the successful system; this would include different procedures and processes for continual improvement.ISO 17100:2015 provides requirements for the core processes, resources, and other aspects necessary for the delivery of a quality translation service that meets applicable specifications. It specifies requirements for all aspects of the translation process directly affecting the quality and delivery of translation services. It includes provisions for translation service providers concerning the management of core processes, minimum qualification requirements for translators and revisers, the availability and management of resources, and other actions necessary for the delivery of a quality translation service.Application of ISO 17100:2015 also provides the means by which a translation service provider (TSP) can demonstrate conformity of specified translation services to ISO 17100:2015 and the capability of its processes and resources to deliver a translation service that will meet the client's and other applicable specifications.Applicable specifications can include those of the client, of the TSP itself, and of any relevant industry codes, best-practice guides, or legislation. Our ISO 17100 Certified Process for TranslationsSource text is evaluated for subject of expertise and assigned accordingly to an experienced native linguist for translation. CVs of the proposed resources are provided on request to the client.Post translation, the source texts are edited/proofread by another qualified native speaker of the target language for consistency in terminology, fluency, clarity and etiquette; considering any cultural nuances.Edited translation with track changes is then reviewed by the original translator to ensure document fidelity.Working within the client deadline, the review process continues between the translator and proof-reader until both linguists approve the final translated text and ensure it is free of grammatical, terminological, orthographical or structural errors. Prior to client delivery, the final translation is then checked and compared with the original source document by our experienced internal QA Managers. This QA process involves meticulous checking for mechanical and visual errors.Returned translations are complete, accurate, are of high linguistic standards with regard to clarity and style, free of grammatical, terminological, orthographical or structural errors.High-quality translation companies that provide ISO certification must have a process in place for ensuring the security and safekeeping of all client-related data. Additionally, the required feedback is an important step, as customer satisfaction and constant improvement are two main goals. translators usually have a relevant degree or previous experience working in a particular industry before retraining as a translator. In order to meet ISO 17100 requirements, UQSR must ensure the translations are revised thoroughly for every single project.

UQSR provides ISO 17100 certification services in India. ISO 17100 certification body in India.
ISO 17100:2015 Translation Services-Requirements for Translation Services was published on May 1, 2015. It was prepared by the International Organization for Standardization's Technical Committee ISO/TC 37, Terminology and other language and content resources, Subcommittee SC 5, Translation, interpreting and related technology. This standard "specifies requirements for all aspects of the translation process directly affecting the quality and delivery of translation services. It includes provisions for translation service providers (TSPs) concerning the management of core processes, minimum qualification requirements, the availability and management of resources, and other actions necessary for the delivery of a quality translation service. The use of raw output from machine translation plus post-editing is outside the scope of this standard. Neither does it apply to interpreting services.Based on EN 15038, these standard transfers the original EN 15038 requirements to the ISO framework. For example, it defines resource types including human resources (such as translators, revisers, reviewers, proof-readers and project managers) as well as technical and technological resources. Translation steps including translation (including a check of translation by the translator himself or herself), revision by a second person, review (an optional step, designed in order to assess the suitability of the translation against the agreed purpose, domain, and the recommended corrective measures), proofreading (an optional pre-publication check) and final verification are defined by this standard. Besides the standard itself, there are six Annexes that help to explain certain aspects of the standard by providing examples or graphics so as to visualize the standard.Minimum standardsThe new characteristics of ISO 17100 compared to EN 15038 are: firstly, it sets minimum standards such as the requirements for translations to be subject to revision by a second person, which is an obligatory part of the standard.QualificationsSecondly, although widely and controversially discussed whilst in development, a new requirement regarding the appropriate qualifications in the subject area regarding the translation work is added in the standard as it prescribes that a translator should have “a certificate of competence in translation awarded by an appropriate government body”. "In this way, translator, proof-reader and reviser all need to have sufficient knowledge in the field of the texts to be translated to understand and deal with any problems.Pre-productionThirdly, the work involved in the pre-production processes has been extended considerably. In this ISO standard, the success of a translation project lies in the cooperation between clients and contractors, rather than completely a responsibility of the contractors. Meanwhile, all relevant requirements, including quality of the target text, nature and scope of quality assurance, and use of style guides, should also be defined and agreed on in advance.Feedback processFourthly, the standard requires a process for handling client feedback, which is used to find out the actual quality of translation and the satisfaction of client. Meanwhile, the translation service provider is also responsible for the archiving of translation projects.Data protectionLast but not the least, ISO 17100 states that data protection requirements must be met as translations are sometimes confidential, involving sensitive information from the client.
